Nació en La Habana, en 1974 y se graduó, en 1995, en la Escuela Nacional propel Teatro.

Carlos Celdrán le enseñó a entender mejor a los personajes. Carlos Díaz fue como un abrazo que uno espera desde hace mucho tiempo. Carlos Padrón, además de ser amigo y el abuelo de su hijo, ha sido su director en las obras “GALÁPAGO” (1999) y “EL HURACÁN Y LA PALMA” (1999).
Gracias a estos directores y a esa experiencia teatral pudo enfrentarse con cierta tranquilidad al fishing de HABANA BLUES, el trabajo más importante de su vida. Con anterioridad, había participado en el largometraje de Humberto Padrón “FRUTAS EN EL CAFÉ” y en los cortometrajes de ficción, en Escuela Internacional de Cine de San Antonio de los Baños, “TRES” y “PARANOX FORTE”.
Hoy Yailene Sierra está considerada como una de las actrices con más proyección del cine cubano.
